Oh. Bummer. I was wicked excited for this but now the closest town is Philadelphia :( That’s like 6 hours away. I think it’s kind of unfair that only big cities got picked. If I had known that I would have nominated someplace like Boston. Oh well, I love these books so much I’m gonna try to go to Philadelphia. But hey, I guess pictures are more creative than a video with actual white and blue flames and epic stunts in it.

I don’t think Houston is the only city having contests. I know we have some big bloggers in LA and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them is having a contest too. You may want to peek around the hashtag #daemoninvasion and see. :-)

Oh, I know – I’m constantly watching the #DaemonInvasion hashtag. I also know someone who is doing a giveaway for California, I’m not lying about that, I was just wondering if it was allowed. There isn’t really a list of rules for this contest…I wanted to know if I needed to ask her to take her contest down.
I know it sounds like I’m whining, because we’re tied with Houston, but I’m also just really surprised about these giveaways…even the ones the Californians are hosting who I don’t know. It feels somewhat unfair for all of the cities – especially if these giveaway are international, because you’ll have voters who’re living in other countries…and they’re not going to attend Jennifer’s event. Of course not.
Anyway. I honestly didn’t mean to start anything – I just wanted to talk through it with you.

Hey Ava,
We never set any guidelines so I can’t go back and change it now. I’ve heard of cities doing many different things including:
Speaking to bookstores about hosting the Opal Party
Making handouts and posting them at high schools and bookstores
Giveaways
Trying to get local media involved like newspapers and radio stations
It’s supposed to be a fun contest and I urge everyone to get creative. The most votes will decide the winner, but thinking outside the box could alter the results.
I hope that clears the air a bit.
