Editor Wish Lists for April 2023

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The editors at Entangled Publishing are always looking for the next breakout hit. Could that be your book? Each month, we have a new wish list from our editors. Watch for them as they’ll change monthly. Let’s discover each other today! All submissions can be sent through our Submittable system. The link can be found here: https://entangledpublishing.submittable.com/submit

If you’re looking for a specific editor and don’t see their name here, that means they are closed to submissions this month. Check back next month to see if they’ve reopened!

[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Jessica Turner, Associate Publisher & Editorial Director, Adult Imprints” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]I really love stories with a small bit of magic to them. True love, after all, feels a little bit like magic IMO. I would love a speculative fiction story that has a thread of romance through the story: In Five Years, End of Story, an updated twist to The Lake House. Big, sweeping stories that really transport readers. Feel free to rip my heart out :)

RomCom continues to be having a moment! We have some amazing names on our RomCom list, but I’d love to add some F/F or M/M RomComs to our list. They can have some emotional angst, or can stay lighter in tone, but they all need to have that one unique plot twist that hasn’t quite been done before.

I’m looking for more New Adult contemporary romance to add to our list in both digital-first and print. I’m looking for both deeply emotional (all heat levels) and sexy angst-y. Also, where did all the sports romance go?

I’m always on the hunt for the next great Paranormal Romance series. My first true loves were series by Kresley Cole, Charlaine Harris, JD Ward, Nalini Singh, Karen Marie Moning, Ilona Andrews, the list goes on. I love series with a strong leading female set in really big worlds with high, constantly evolving, stakes book after book.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Jen Bouvier, Editor” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]Across the board, a great voice, a high-concept story, and a fast pace are the way to hook me. In YA and up, romantic elements are key for me. The more, the better.

Top 3 genres I want to see right now:
– YA/NA Fantasy. Anything with a big romantic arc! Extremely interested in more High Fantasy.
– Upmarket/Women’s Fiction with spec elements.
– Lyrical picture books authentically centering marginalized identity

I would love to see more of this for YA and up:

– Solarpunk and ecofuturism vibes in second world fantasy. I want to see green and sustainable worlds!
– F/F with vibes that can be described by any of the following: chaotic, intense, vicious
– Authentic mythology-inspired stories
– Antiheroines and villain romances
– Queer spins on classics not set in historical times but influenced by the vibe and theme. I love a subtle retelling.
I’d love to see more works by Black authors, Indigenous, and trans women authors, regardless of what they’re writing about. Lifting up marginalized voices is very important to me.
For any submissions sent to me in the next two months (April 12 2023 to June 12 2023) by Black, and/or Indigenous, and/or trans women authors, I’ll try to give feedback to all to the best of my ability. Please add a note that you saw this MSWL so I’ll know. 😊
