- High Fantasy + Paranormal/Urban Fantasy + Sci-Fi YA (Entangled: TEEN)
- Contemporary/Paranormal Romcoms (Amara)
- Contemporary Women’s Fiction (Sideways)
- Contemporary Adult Thrillers (Sideways)
Forever wish list:
F/F, strong voices, high-concept plots, Black joy, characters with historically marginalized backgrounds, authentically written settings outside of the US
This month’s wish list:
ENTANGLED: TEEN
- I love LGBTQIAP* romance everywhere of course, but I really, really want more in YA
- Upper YA romantic High Fantasy in the vein of Naomi Novik and Holly Black
- Authentically based on folklore/mythology, particularly: Jewish, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian, Native American
- Unique, authentic spins on magical creatures
- Sweet romance arcs, where the characters complement and admire each other from the start. Give me wholesome, healthy romance and epic, blushy crushes!
- Light, campy, romantic accessible sci fi that feels like Another Life or Mass Effect
AMARA
I have a lot of Contemporary RomComs right now, so whatever I add needs to be high-concept and have a very strong voice. I would love some new spins on popular early 2000s movies for example.
For Paranormal RomComs, same, and creative worldbuilding is a must. Not looking for Urban Fantasy here, more something lighter. Think Bewitched.
SIDEWAYS
- Funny Women’s Fiction in the vein of Sophie Kinsella, Bridget Jones, and Sex and the City, but updated for this generation
- Underrepresented jobs in WF and Thrillers: highly specialized, STEM, or traditionally masculine
- Women-centric Thrillers without romance, starring everyday millennial heroines (Think: The Maid by Nita Prose, The Club by Ellery Lloyd, One by One by Ruth Ware)
- Claustrophobic/chamber play settings in Thrillers
- Generally: strong voices, f/f, non-US inspired fantasy, trans authored romance especially from trans women/trans feminine people.
MSWL:
- FANTASY with a unique voice and setting.
- YA CONTEMPORARY especially books about Indigenous and/or LGBTQIA+ joy.
