There’s just something about a movie that revolves around dancing. The romance is always steamier, the drama intense, and you know you wish you could move like the characters on the screen . (It’s not just me, right?)
In my new romance, All I want is You, the heroine is a ballet dancer. I grew up dancing and loved writing a character that shared something so personal with me. So, today I’m sharing my Top 5 dance movies. They’re hot, exciting, and full of moves and music that will make you want to jump in and join the fun.
1.Step Up
Let’s face it. This movie has it all. The dancing is spectacular, the romance is hot (we’re seriously watching Channing and Jenna fall in love here), and did I mention Channing Tatum? He’s hot, he’s got the moves like Jagger (and then some) and…well he’s Channing Tatum.
2.Center Stage
Oh life as a ballerina. I love this look at the competitive world of ballet. It’s got drama, angst, backstabbing, sex, and some serious dancing! What more do you need?
3.Footloose
Everybody cut, everybody cut! From the small town setting, to the rebel bad boy that just wants to dance, this movie is a classic. And I can’t forget the soundtrack. Every song in this one makes me want to hop on the couch and dance!
4.Flashdance
Just try and tell me that this movie doesn’t make you want to grab a leotard and leg warmers and fly across the dance floor. I won’t believe you.
5.Dirty Dancing
“Nobody puts Baby in the corner.” I don’t know about you, but after watching this movie I was begging my parents for a family vacation. I can watch this one over and over, reciting every line, and STILL swoon like crazy at the ending scene where Johnny pulls Baby to her feet and they dance. Please let me be Baby, just once!
I just HAD to throw in one honorable mention. Honestly, where would be without the men (and their magical moves) from Magic Mike?
Seriously, thank you gentlemen, from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU!
I’ve shown you mine, now show me yours! What are some of your favorite dance movies? Let me know in the comments or tag me on Twitter with your choices!

All I Want is You
Forever isn’t part of this deal.
Hawke Vance will do whatever it takes to protect the family business, even if it means protecting it from his own father, a man who’s just gotten hitched in Vegas to wife number nine. Growing up seeing how much chaos wedded bliss creates, Hawke’s sworn never to fall into the matrimony trap. But to get the all-important controlling shares of the company, he does need a wife.
Being caught skinny dipping is not the way ballerina Amy Powell planned to start her vacation. When the hot biker who catches her turns out to be the owner of the house she’s staying in, she’s mortified. But embarrassment soon turns to confusion and a good dose of lust when Mr. Sex on a Stick offers her the money she needs to save her brother if she’ll agree to marry him and play pretend for two months.
Only this game of make-believe quickly starts feeling too real…
