I found Jane Austen after watching the 1995 BBC series, Pride and Prejudice. Who was this historical author who’d written this fantastic, addictive miniseries?!? Up until that point I’d never really watched historical romance movies or shows, but after this series I was hooked. So imagine my delight when when Sense and Sensibility and Emma followed on the big screen. Books that I’d come to adore were brought to life. It was heaven on earth. I was only in my late teens when the BBC series came out and although it would be another ten years before I myself would start writing, I often re-read Austen’s books for inspiration and to be lost in a time that this one author in particular knows better than any of us who try and replicate life in the early 19th century. Having said that, I do believe the historical authors of today do Austen proud, and that she would be happy knowing that woman today across the world live by their pen.
Tamara is an Australian author who grew up in an old mining town in country South Australia, where her love of history was founded. So much so, she made her darling husband travel to the UK for their honeymoon, where she dragged him from one historical monument and castle to another. A mother of three, her two little gentleman’s in the making, a future Lady (she hopes) and a part-time job keep her busy in the real world, but whenever she gets a moment’s peace she loves to write romance novels in an array of genres, including regency, medieval and paranormal. Tamara loves hearing from readers and writers alike. You can contact her through her website, and sign up to follow her blog or newsletter.
