Elia Winters’s Top Five Movie Theater Snacks
I am a huge movie buff. I love nothing more than an opening night crowd, all those people excited about the same movie. There’s nothing like it. Since I’m an extrovert who tends to attract introverts, I’m often the only one in my circle who wants to brave the opening night crowd. That’s okay, though: going to the movies alone means never having to share your snacks.
So here are my top 5 movie theater snacks! I didn’t include popcorn on this list, because popcorn is a given. If you’re not getting popcorn, what are you doing with your life?
#5: Milk Duds. These are a solid contender, even coming in at #5. Chewy caramel and flavorful chocolate make a winning combination. Bonus: these are going to glue your jaw together, so you won’t be tempted to talk during the movie.
#4: Reese’s Pieces. Peanut butter. Chocolate. Crunchy candy shell. While my favorite way to enjoy these is on top of soft serve ice cream, they are good on their own as well.
#3: Sno-caps. Tiny chocolate morsels coated with nonpareils, Sno-caps have a great texture and delicious CRONCH. The only downside is how loud they are sliding in and out of the box, but if you time it right, you can enjoy this tasty treat during action scenes.
#2: Sour Patch Kids. You may not know this, but sour patch kids mixed in with movie theater popcorn creates a delicious sour/sweet/salty taste combination that can’t be beat. Try it. You won’t regret it.
#1: Twizzlers. Classic Twizzlers are arguably the perfect movie theater snack. Once you open the package, they’re silent, so they aren’t going to disturb your neighbors. You can bite off the ends and use them as a straw in your soda. And since they’re sweet, they compliment salty popcorn.
No matter what snacks you like, I’m sure we can all agree on one thing: the importance of eating popcorn lizard-style with your tongue while walking to your seat with your hands full. This is what brings us all together.

Abby Burke put her wild days behind her, determined to be the adult she thought she needed to be. It was just a phase, right? But when her college reunion reveals her…adventurous…past to her straitlaced gentleman of a husband, Abby is terrified he’ll reject her.
Except Sam is more than intrigued by what has his normally bold wife flushing with embarrassment…and desire. So when he and Abby stumble onto an especially hot scene that takes them over the edge, he proposes a challenge: confess their deepest fantasies and fulfill them together.
As their playful explorations escalate, their forays into exhibitionism and kink shift the way they see each other and their relationship—for the better. But when Sam finds himself longing to see her pleasured by other men, and Abby’s all in, they wonder if this will make their marriage stronger or end up tearing them apart.
Elia Winters holds a degree in English Literature and teaches at a small rural high school where she runs too many extracurricular activities. She balances her love of the outdoors with a bottomless well of geekiness; in her spare time, she is equally likely to be found skiing, camping, playing tabletop games, or watching Doctor Who. A writer all her life, Elia likes to dabble in many genres, but erotic romance has been one of her favorites since she first began sneaking her mother’s romance novels. She currently lives in New England with her loving husband and their odd assortment of pets. Find out more at EliaWinters.com and follow her on Twitter @EliaWinters.
I’m more of a popcorn and Junior Mints person. Congrats on the release!
