I love to travel and my most recent trip was Bali. I’ve only been home two weeks and miss it terribly. I was terribly jet lagged and I thought my trick to combat jet lag would work. Only it didn’t. It has taken me two weeks to almost recover. We flew direct from Toronto To Hong Kong and it was almost 16 hours in economy section, but I will say the flight was not at all bad. It was over before we knew it!
Tips for a long flight:
- Get up and walk around often
- Drink lots of water
- Have lip balm handy because you do dry up
- Bring a horseshoe travel pillow, it is invaluable. I turn it with the opening to the back or side so that my head doesn’t flop forward. Also bring noise cancelling headphones or ear plug for quiet and a sleeping mask to ensure darkness. I also bring a shawl that can be doubled as a blankie and then used later as a wrap.
- I always bring a lot of sani-wipes and don’t feel at all embarrassed about wiping down my seat area. I make sure I sanitize the tray both open and closed, the tv, arm rests top and bottom, seat belt, seat pocket where you will store your stuff, head rest and window. You can be assured your wipe down will be a whole lot more thorough than what it received during turnaround.
Bali was everything I thought it would be and more. I absolutely must go back. One of the highlights, among the many, was a visit to the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud. We were warned a monkey might jump on you and of course one did jump on me and try to steal a pair of yoga pants out of my bag. I’d just bought them for my new daughter-in-law. Here are a few fun photos.
