Confession time… I’m a sucker for young adult romance, whether it’s on screen or tucked neatly within the pages of my favorite books. I mean, with all the feels (and firsts), what’s not to like? Take a classic story and throw in some unexpected (and dark) twists, and, well, you can find me binge watching Riverdale on Netflix. As usual, I was late to the party, but once I discovered the show, well, I’m sure it’s totally normal to binge thirty-five episodes in a week and a half.
Breathing’s overrated, right?!?
Season one opens with Betty Cooper, the consummate girl next door, crushing on Archie Andrews. Look, I get it, the guy’s a football player and he’s got abs for days. But come on girl…HE’S NOT RIGHT FOR YOU!
You see, Betty’s not just the girl next door, although she’s got pep for days.
Betty’s got a dark side and I can totally relate. She needs a guy who can embrace that darkness and also balance it out.

Which brings me to Jughead Jones. Sexy, brooding, and a dry sense of humor I just can’t get enough of.
As it turns out, our resident writer’s got a dark side too. And his own gang.
You see where this is going, right?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all doom, gloom, and shared darkness.
Betty and Jug are the Scooby Gang for the next generation (I see you Buffy fans!), solving crimes and bringing the wicked to justice, no matter how close to home trouble strikes.
When the going gets tough, the tough straighten their ponytails and get it done.
And, sure, sometimes it’s a lot to handle…
But the cherry on top?
