You know, during the school year, my work days are what one would call…structured. I wake up. I get my kids on the bus. I drink my coffee in peace. Once that sweet vector is rolling through my veins, I take my time, sit down on my couch with my feet up, open my laptop, wait for my cat to climb in between my legs, and then…. I write.
Ahhh. So peaceful, right?
Well, in the summer, none of that happens.
In the summer, when I wake up, I have three kids in the living room, more than likely arguing over what to watch, while the littlest one ends up winning and putting on Dan TDM.
I gulp down my coffee desperately because I know I have two hours, maybe three, until I have to give up writing and be a mom.
And then I open my laptop, start typing while listening to Dan TDM talk about creepers and try to sing along to some weird game he’s playing that I don’t even know, all while trying to write a sexy seduction scene.
Meanwhile my cat is hiding because she doesn’t like rap.
And I’m wishing I could join her because I like rap but not THIS KIND.
But when it’s all said and done…I wouldn’t change a thing. Because writing is my life, and I’m lucky enough that I get to do it all for you…
