The Final Part.
Her vampire led her into the woods, the full moon shining bright through the bare branches. She was not afraid. Quite the opposite. He led her to a pool where steam rolled off the surface.
“Will you swim with me?”
She smiled. “Yes, I will.”
Removing their clothes, they swam in the warm pool. Josephine let her vampire kiss her under the moonlight, his star-bright eyes capturing her heart. He whispered to her of beautiful things in this world we do not understand. Things we cannot see but we know are real.
“Like love?” she asked when he pressed his lips to hers again.
“Yes, my sweet. Like love.” He held her close, their bodies molded as one. “Will you be mine, Josephine?”
His fangs glinted sharp under the moonlight. She understood this last request would seal her to him forever. But the apothecary was right. There was only one answer to give.
“Yes. I will.”
Her vampire sank his fangs into her neck, releasing his elixir, pouring pleasure into her body, a river of ecstasy. And love. She gazed up at the stars, and they twinkled not blue but vibrant, emerald green.
“Magic,” she whispered to the woods.
They heard her and blessed her for it.
The next morning, the apothecary found upon his stall a jar full of silver leaves from the black oaks of Silvane Forest. And a red satin ribbon tied around the top.
