I met my husband when I was nineteen and a freshman in college. He was a sophomore. We started dating the following year and have been together ever since, almost fifteen years now. For this reason, among many, many others, the college years hold a special place in my heart. I am beyond thrilled that the new adult genre allows me to write about what was such a happy, exciting, exhilarating, yet confusing time in my life.
The hero and heroine in Letting Go actually have a conversation about pick-up lines. And yes, I’ve heard quite a few in my day. You’d think that since I’ve been off the market for fifteen years (married for over ten of those years), lame pick-up lines would be a thing of the past. Not so.
My husband is a big nerd. I admit it. And he’s totally in good company—I’m also a nerd, and I appreciate his sense of humor. So recently I got this text:
Are you sitting on the F5 key?
ME: Huh?
‘Cause that ass is refreshing.
Oh, be still my heart. My man is a keeper.
