Hey there!
Since the newest book in my Night Series, Night Child, just came out in April, I thought for Throwback Thursday (#tbt) I’d bring Night Demon back out!
Most of this book takes place in the Yucatan jungle near the pyramid at Chichen Itza. I dedicated the book to my son, Reno. See a few years ago when I was still researching for the Night Series, I took my kids on a trip to hike the pyramid. Sadly it was so steep that we basically crawled up. I had no idea how high we were until we reached the top and I stood. YIKES!!! I am so scared of heights that I started to hyperventilate and told my little guys. “I think I need a helicopter.”
There was no railing on the pyramid and the steps were tall and narrow. I kept envisioning my bloody body in a heap at the bottom and I really had no clue how I’d ever get down. Little Reno looked up at me and said, “Mama let’s sit and we’ll scoot down.”
So there’s my Throwback Thursday story… I actually polished every step of the El Castillo pyramid at Chichen Itza… And without Reno I’d probably still be up there at the top… Here’s a few pictures from the crazy adventure! :)
