When you are getting ready to start a new book, what’s the first thing you do?

Scour the internet for pictures relating to my idea and put together a board on Pinterest. I’m a visual writer, and this helps me plot my story.

How do you celebrate when you finish writing a book?

Share a bottle of wine with my hubby! He is a valuable brainstorming partner, a constructive critic, and my biggest fan. I don’t deserve him.

If you could have dinner, coffee, or drinks with a fictional character, who would you choose and where would you go?

Hmm, I suppose it’s sacrilegious to mention a TV character on a blog about books, but my answer would have to be Castiel from Supernatural. I’d take him to Starbucks and then watch how an angel of the Lord handles a triple shot espresso.

Do you have any hobbies or special interests you’d care to share?

I live in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, so naturally my favorite hobbies are hiking and riding my dirt bike.

What was the inspiration for your book?

Traveling 6K miles a month for my day job in Alaska means I spend a lot of time in airports, and I’ve been snowed in more times than I can count. Of course, my experiences have never been as exciting as Wes and Evie’s!

Who would play your hero/heroine in the tv or film version of your book?

The beautiful and feisty Eliza Dushku, better known as Faith in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, would play Evie. And Wes would be the hunky Kiwi Karl Urban. I first fell in love with him during his role as Éomer in The Lord of the Rings.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

Only one. Never give up, never surrender. Yep, I know I stole the phrase from Galaxy Quest. What can I say? I’m a huge sci-fi fan.

Are you a pantser or a plotter?

I’m mostly a plotter, but I let the pantser in me take over if the feeling is right. Really, it’s all about following your gut. And if my gut tells me to deviate from my previous plan, I do.

Aside from writing, what do you do in your free time?

Eat, breathe, work as a pediatrician in Alaska for one week a month, and converse with my children. Occasionally I get to spend time with my husband too!

Do you prefer print books or eBooks?

It almost pains me to say that I am now a fully converted eBook lover. With as much as traveling as I do, the ability to have as many books as I want on one device is a convenience I can’t live without!

What’s in the works for you?

I have a Harlequin KISS continuity, THE WEDDING SEASON, coming out next summer with the fabulous Heidi Rice, Amy Andrews, and Kimberly Lang. I really enjoy collaborating with other authors!
