When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
I wrote my first book at 22 but even then I didn’t realise I was a writer or that’s what I wanted to be, it was just something I did at the time to occupy myself during a brief period of unemployment. And then it got rejected and that’s when I knew :) Rejection made me realise I wanted to be a writer more than anything!
What is your favorite part of writing a new book?
Googling images of hot dudes looking for a hero match :)
Where did the inspiration for this book come from?
I saw a YouTube clip of Lady Antebellum performing Baby, It’s Cold Outside on the Today show and that was the visual catalyst for the four of us to start thinking about our “snowed-in” stories.
If you could take a vacation anywhere in world, where would you go?
Italy – no contest. Have been a couple of times already but I just can’t get enough. So much more that I want to see and experience. I think I must have been a Roman goddess in a previous life!
What do you like to do for fun?
Honestly? Read….that sound really lame, right? Something like skydiving would be much more exciting but I’m not into terrifying myself. Long boozy lunches with friends and going to the movies are also high on my fun list!
Do you have a favorite book of yours that you’ve written in the past?
I do. My fav book of mine always used to be The Surgeon’s Meant-To-Be Bride which is a reconciliation story set in a MASH style unit and follows a 24 hour timeline (each chapter one hour) and has probably the best black moment I’ve ever written. But I think that How To Mend A Broken Heart has taken over in my affections. It’s not your typical romance novel but it’s garnered so many amazing, thoughtful reviews and feedback that I’ve just loved. It also has a pretty good black moment too.
If you could only pick one book to read for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oh no – that *is* hard! Impossible! Hmm…it would have to be one of Jenny Crusie’s but I couldn’t pick just one. Can’t I have all of them, pretty please?
What’s in the works for you?
I’m about to start writing the first of four linked books for Entangled’s Brazen line which I’m very much looking forward to. I’m also hopefully about to sell a romcom I wrote years ago to an Australian publisher which I’m very excited about!
