Entangled Publishing announces their third category romance line: COVET
Covet, a paranormal and fantasy romance category line, follows on the heels of the highly successful contemporary romance line, INDULGENCE, and the company’s upcoming romantic suspense line, DEAD SEXY.
Under the directorship of Alethea Spiridon-Hopson, who has recently taken over the role of Editorial Director, INDULGENCE launched to phenomenal success just one month ago. Lori Wilde, who had helmed the line through its launch, has stepped down in order to focus on her recent six-book contract with Avon. “We couldn’t be happier for Lori and would never stand in the way of such an exciting opportunity,” says Entangled Publisher Liz Pelletier. “Lori has guided the development of the line alongside Alethea Spiridon-Hopson, who was her managing editor and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. We’ re thrilled to have her as Editorial Director of both the Indulgence line as well as the new Covet line.”
The launch of Indulgence catapulted The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst to the number one bestselling spot at Barnes & Noble during its first several weeks, followed closely by the other launch titles: Kidnapped by the Greek Billionaire by Rachel Lyndhurst, Rules of Negotiation by Inara Scott, and Kiss and Make Up by Faye Robertson. Indulgence will unveil three new titles on March 15th, and Covet, the new paranormal line, will launch in August 2012.
“Covet promises to have something for everyone. I can’t wait to start reading submissions. I love paranormal, especially quirky heroines and story lines that have a deeply motivated hero,” says Alethea Spiridon-Hopson. “And I’d do backflips for a sister-witch series! This line is going to be so much fun.”
COVET Submission Guidelines
We’re seeking paranormal stories with fresh voices, between 60 and 70K words in length. Stories need a romantic trope and an alpha hero at their core, with paranormal elements woven into the storyline. For example, a story could have the best friends to lovers trope and the best friend happens to be a vampire. The paranormal element is secondary to the trope and shouldn’t eclipse their growing relationship.
Covet will cater to everything from Greek gods, to witches, to vampires, open door and closed door sex scenes, funny and dark. Voices like Erin McCarthy, Shelly Laurenston, Gena Showalter, and Nalini Singh are good examples of the kind of exciting, fast-paced voices which will appeal most to Covet readers.
Specifically, we want:
Quality storytelling that engages the reader and transports them to another world or time
Dynamic, engaging dialogue
Lush worlds and environments
Fast-paced stories
Active story lines. A minimum of narrative sequel.
Stories focused on the heroine and hero falling in love; their trope is the main focus. The paranormal/fantasy element is the secondary focus.
Bold authors who aren’t afraid to push creative boundaries
Prolific authors who can write three to four books a year are a plus
Manuscripts must be 60-70k words in length
We accept both agented and unagented submissions, though agented submissions receive first priority.
To submit a manuscript for consideration, paste the following into an email:
A one-page query letter containing your genre, title, word count, a brief blurb about the book, and any pertinent writing credentials.
The first three (3) double-spaced chapters
Where we can find you on the web (links will do)
Please let us know if the manuscript is complete.
Send your email to covet-submissions(at)entangledpublishing(dot)com.
Note: Unless we request a revise and resubmit, full manuscript rejections are final.
So happy to see my niche getting it’s own catagory line here at Entangled! Can’t wait to start reading and reviewing the COVET line. :D
Folks, I’ve tried to send a submission to the email you’ve placed on the page and it has bounced. I tried it twice and yes, I replaced ‘at’ and ‘dot’. I really would like to submit. Has something gone wrong?
